FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
what do we do?
The CSUN Dance Team is the official dance spirit team for CSUN. We perform half and quarter times during the men's and women's basketball home games. We compete at Varsity's collegiate competitions. Being a part of the team comes with its benefits, like priority registration.
when do we practice?
As of now, we practice Monday and Wednesday nights and Friday mornings.
what styles of dance do we perform?
Pom, jazz, and hip hop are our main styles. For auditions, both pom and hip hop routines will be taught.
what are the requirements to audition?
To audition this fall, you must be a full-time CSUN student.. Auditions will require a $35 fee. There will be NO video auditions this semester, you must audition in-person. Due to limited spots on the team, recruitment will be highly selective.
Technique requirements include:
- Right & Left grand jete/split leap
- Right calypso
- Right & Left kicks above 90 degrees
- Triple pirouette
- Toe touch
- Headspring & Kip up
- 4 second turns into a triple
